Finding the Percent

First write the word problem - (What percent of 50 is 10) into an equation -

(w% * 50 = 10)
Second move the 50 so that you have (50 w% = 10)
Third divide by 50 so that you now have - w% = 10 / 50

Fourth solve - w% =10 / 50 so that you have a decimal -

w% =.20
You're not finished yet you need to find the percentage.

Convert the .20 into a percent by moving the decimal 2 places to the right

w = 20 %
