Measurement

You need to know the different units of measurement.

No matter what you purchase a measure is on it

You also need to be able to use them as easily as you use the multiplication tables.

2 cups = 1 pint (pt)

2 pints = 1 quart (qt)

4 quarts = 1 gallon (gal)

12 inches (in) = 1 foot (ft)

36 inches (in) = 1 yard (yd)

3 feet (ft) = 1 yard

5280 feet (ft) = 1 mile (m)

16 ounces (oz) = 1 pound (lb)

2000 pounds = 1 ton (T.)

Most countries in the world use the Metric Unit of measurement.

Because it is based on base 10 it is a little easier to convert.

Many things that you purchase today are identified by both standard measurement and the metric system. Think of the 1 liter coke.
