Integers Basics

Integers are either positive (+) or negative (-).

The bigger a positive number is the larger value.

(+ 9) < (+ 11) or (+ 12) > ( +4)

Another way of thinking of this - the further a positive number is from zero the larger it is in value.

The bigger a negative number is the smaller the value.

( - 5) < ( - 3) or ( - 15 ) > (- 12)

Another way of thinking of this - the further a negative number is from zero the smaller it is in value.
A number line would like like this:

(- 8) (-7) (-6) (-5) (-4) (-3) (-2) (-1) (0) (+1) (+2) (+3) (+4) (+5) (+6) (+7) (+8)
